The Daisetsuzan Grand Traverse is a roughly 80-kilometer hiking route in the Daisetsuzan National Park, going from Mt. Asahidake or Mt. Kurodake in the north to Mt. Furanodake in the south. This route takes you across the vast slopes and plateaus formed by the volcanic activity of the Daisetsu-Tokachi volcanic chain, and lets you enjoy a rich variety of alpine flora and fauna, as well as magnificent natural landscapes that include wetlands, ponds, and rock gardens. Depending on the weather, your stamina, and other factors, the route takes around 5 to 7 days to complete.
